Finance leadership · FP&A · AI-built tooling

Finance leader who has embraced AI to transform FP&A.

Eighteen years of planning, forecasting, and business partnering at Siemens and TripAdvisor, now Director of FP&A for Viator, TripAdvisor's Experiences business. The last few spent rebuilding how a finance team works: models that update themselves, reconciliations that run on their own, and analysis that reaches a decision in days instead of quarters.

About

Max Gaebler

I grew up in a house full of languages. My mother is Italian, my parents are both retired teachers, and travel was treated as part of an education rather than a break from it. I studied finance with a minor in Spanish, spent a year at the University of Navarra in Pamplona, and two summers in Agen, France. I joined the Siemens finance rotation program out of school with one goal in the back of my mind: to work in Europe one day. Six years later I was running a finance team in France.

Since then my career has been the finance seat next to operating leaders, first at Siemens across the US and France, then at Viator in San Francisco, where I am now Director of FP&A for TripAdvisor's Experiences business. Along the way I kept building the tools I wished the finance team already had. Since 2025 that has meant using Claude and other AI systems to take over the mechanical parts of FP&A, so the people can spend their time on the decisions.

Outside work, my wife Sara and I are building a house on Magic Mountain Road in the Sonoma County hills. It became a finance project of its own: a construction loan to reconcile, a contractor dispute to win, and a reminder that the numbers only matter when they tie out. I still play piano, and I still plan trips around the languages I want to keep.
